Friday, March 4th, 2011

When it comes to car insurance, all US states have their own laws, rules, regulations, procedures, forms and formats. Car insurance is a very important aspect of financial laws and regulations as these are able to regulate the driving norms in any state. It is quite true, that most often, rules and regulations are followed more due to penalties due to non compliance, than a love for laws, as such. This is why it is quite essential to have a close look at the laws and the procedures to be followed in terms of car insurance. if you are planning to drive in Wyoming, do have a look at these laws.

Financial Responsibility Law:

The Financial Responsibility Law in Wyoming mandates that car drivers have the responsibility of careful driving. This also ensures that those who do not have the financial means to drive a car responsibly should not be allowed to drive cars, as they would be a danger to safe driving on the roads.

Minimum Requirements to get Car Insurance in Wyoming

Minimum car insurance in Wyoming is represented by the term 25/50/20. This refers to car insurance coverage as follows:

-          $25,000 coverage in case of injury to or death of one person in one accident

-          $50,000 coverage in case of injury to two or more persons in a single accident

-          $20,000 coverage towards damage and destruction of property of others in the case of 1 accident.

Proof of Insurance

Drivers who drive cars on Wyoming roads are required to always have with them proof of car insurance. this may be asked of them by law enforcement agencies and officer or officers from the department of revenue. This is one of the main reasons why it is necessary carry documented proof of car insurance, along with driver’s license as well as car registration papers. It is not as if proof of car insurance will be asked for in the event of an accident or incident involving a car. It can be asked for at a traffic light, or during a routine inspection too

Penalties in case of failure to produce proof of car insurance

If a person is not able to provide proof of car insurance in person, he/she has 7 days to produce the proof. If this is also not complied with, the driver can be fined up to seven hundred and fifty dollars and imprisoned for not more than 6 months, or both.

SR22 Filing

A person who has been convicted of driving without proper car insurance will have to file an SR22 certificate, that makes it possible for the driver of the car to get reinstated in terms of driving the car legally. This is required by the Department of Motor Vehicles.

Getting car insurance

In order to avail car insurance, you should make it a point to get it from a registered as well as authorized car insurance dealer or company. This is essential not only from the perspective of car insurance validity and legality, but also in view of good service and best deals to suit your needs and budget adequately.
