Missouri Drivers’ Responsibilities

You will have to carry with you the liability coverage papers and the insurance papers when you drive your car. You are unauthorized to drive the car without these papers and are considered as illegal. If involved in an accident and the driver fails to produce the required papers, he/she will be convicted in any of the 3 ways:

  1. The conviction will be recorded in the driving record and you would be losing out 4 points. You can lose your driving license when you reach 8 points on your driving license.
  2. You will be monitored by the driving license bureau in order to check for the liability coverage.
  3. Your driving license will be suspended permanently until further notice or till you can provide them the liability coverage and the insurance papers.

Suspension/Reinstatement for Failure to Maintain Insurance

if you have been suspended from driving your vehicle, you need to reinstate the same by producing the required insurance and liability coverage papers with the penalty fine. You are given a chance to prove yourself for the first time i.e., your 1st suspension will be only for a day. If you have been suspended again in the same year, your suspension will be for 90 days.
